SMARTNET SILICA Compound
Drawing directly from its experience and know-how in motorsports, Pirelli introduces a patented racing formulation into cycling, capable of ensuring maximum grip and smoothness on both dry and wet surfaces. The elongated shape of the Silica molecules, unlike the common spherical molecular shape used so far, allows for a new level of sophistication in the tread compound, resulting in improved handling thanks to the ability to orient the compound in the rolling direction. Furthermore, the enhanced mechanical resistance of the tread achieved through improved interaction of Silica with other components (such as aramid fibers directly dispersed in the compound) increases puncture protection and tire durability.
